Pankaj: The Mind Behind the Melody
Pankaj is not just the creator of The Chimes of India — he is a passionate craftsman, a seeker of perfection, and an engineer who has blended art with precision. His journey is rooted in music, nature, and a deep desire to create something meaningful that connects people with harmony.
👨💼 From Engineering to Artistry
A mechanical engineer by profession, Pankaj spends his working hours helping businesses become ‘Lean’ — teaching them how to do more with less. But beyond the boardrooms and spreadsheets lies his creative spirit. An outdoorsman at heart, Pankaj finds joy in trekking, photography, and both Indian and Western classical music.
Design Meets Sound
Pankaj engineered each chime with an obsessive attention to detail:
- Wooden parts are made with precision so they don’t vary from piece to piece.
- Aluminium tubes are tuned for accurate pitch, tone, and sustain.
- Every set is hand-finished — not machine-made — ensuring it becomes a work of art as much as a musical instrument.
The result? A chime that sings in the wind — holding notes for 20 to 25 seconds, creating real harmony that hums and resonates.
The Dream of a Perfect Chime
The idea of building a truly musical wind chime simmered within him for over a decade. In 2014, the dream took shape. Alongside his friend and professional confidant Vinay Achwal, who brought in the expertise of Indian classical raags, Pankaj began the journey to create a wind chime that was not just ornamental — but precisely tuned to a raga.
“We didn’t want random sound. We wanted the wind to play music — real music.”

Today, he devotes his time to crafting chimes that are not just beautiful, but soulful. Each one is tuned to a specific Indian classical raga, ready to bring joy, peace, and aesthetic pleasure to any space.
